JSG Trucking Co participates in all California Trucking Association (CTA) safety events and training programs to keep our employees up to date with current rules and regulations. Over the last fifteen years JSG has participated in the annual CTA Fleet Safety award program. During this period we have been honored with multiple fleet safety awards in the flatbed and truckload divisions. In 2008 and again in 2014 we received the highest honor awarded by the CTA, the “Board of Directors Grand Trophy”.
For a carrier to be considered eligible to participate in the awards program, they must submit their application which goes through a comprehensive review by the contest committee. The committee is comprised of an independent panel of judges from government agencies, such as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Department of Motor Vehicles and the California Highway Patrol and other safety experts within the industry. If the Company is accepted, an audit is then performed reviewing records and safety practices. The purpose of the audit is to verify that the company is in compliance with applicable regulations and that programs outlined in the application are current and in place.
April of 2010, saw JSG Trucking receive an award for fleet safety receiving 2nd place in the CTA’s flatbed division. Along with our company’s success our then Fleet Manager, now Vice President of Operations, Peter Cameron, was awarded the “Fleet Maintenance Professional of the year” award. This award is one of the highest honors bestowed to an individual for the achievements made in fleet maintenance. Pete received the award for his efforts in improving our fleet maintenance program, improvement in inventory control, service and repair intervals, overall reduction in maintenance cost and reduction in fleet downtime.
Two other employees have had individual successes. Truck Drivers Celestino Rodriquez Lopez and Bob Yuponco took 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Northern California Truck Driving Championship held in Stockton Ca. Celestino and Bob competed in the 5 axle Flatbed division competing against 24 other individuals from major companies. Celestino and Bob headed to the State Finals held in Southern Ca to compete against the best the State of California has to offer. Bob Yuponco finished the extremely challenging test of knowledge and skills placing 3rd in the State. JSG Trucking is extremely proud of our employee’s accomplishments.
In addition to the numerous safety awards JSG Trucking has received from the California Trucking Association, JSG Trucking has been recognized by the California Highway Patrol for successfully completing 6 Biannual Inspection of Terminals (BIT) inspections. The intensive 3-day BIT inspection process verifies that a trucking company is abiding by both Federal and State laws and regulations. A successful inspection signifies that a trucking company is “doing it right all the time”.
JSG Trucking Co is committed to remaining one of the safest fleets on California highways and will continue to strive for safety excellence.
