Vice President of Operations
Peter “Pete” Cameron was born and raised in the small farming community of Ithaca Michigan. Following his graduation from high school in 1983, Pete joined the family business and worked as a carpenter. In 1985, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and eventually retired from the Air Force in 2005. During his 20 years in the military Pete was stationed in Georgia, Korea, Germany, Turkey and finally, in California. In addition to his permanent duty stations he was also deployed to support Operations Desert Storm, Provide Comfort, Northern Watch and Southern Watch, as well as numerous other operations throughout the world.
While serving on active duty Pete completed a Bachelors Degree in Business with an emphasis on Information Systems and a Masters Degree in Business Administration through the University of Phoenix. He also completed certificate programs in Project Management through Villanova University.
Upon retirement Pete completed the rigorous testing requirements and was issued a temporary teaching credential which allowed him to serve as a substitute school teacher for the Lodi Unified School District. Pete enjoyed his many assignments and particularly enjoyed working in special education classrooms.
Pete’s entry into the transportation industry was supposed to be a summer job to fill the gap between school years. Upon completion of truck driving school, he applied to and was hired by JSG Trucking Company. Pete began his driving career as an intercity transfer driver in July of 2007. In late 2008, he was promoted to the line haul division where he continued until April of 2009. In April of 2009 Pete was promoted to the position of assistant dispatcher and shop foreman.
In 2010 Pete was awarded the coveted California Trucking Associations Maintenance Professional of the Year award for his accomplishments in improving the maintenance program for JSG Trucking. In the same year he was promoted again to Fleet Manager. Pete’s commitment to continual process evaluation and improvement garnered him the promotion to Operations Manager in 2013 and finally to Vice President of Operations in 2014.
Pete is married to Sherry Cameron and together they have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and gardening.
